The state must find a management model that will ensure the further operation of the Rezekne concert hall 'Gors' in accordance with the goals of state cultural policy, stated the President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs at a meeting with members of the Latgale Subcommittee of the Saeima and representatives of the Ministry of Smart Governance and Regional Development.

The President of Latvia reiterated that "Gors" is a regional and national cultural center. "No one wants to take away the concert hall 'Gors', but it needs to be preserved as a center of Latvian and Latgalian identity on a national scale. Therefore, the state must find a management model that will ensure the further functioning of this concert hall in accordance with the goals of state cultural policy," said the President of Latvia.

As previously reported, the Ministry of Culture asked the municipality to respond to the proposal for state participation in the management of 'Gors', but the Rezekne municipality has not yet responded to the substance of this proposal, asking for further clarifications.

If it is clear and in the spirit of the words - the new concert hall lives on municipal subsidies and the city council wants it to be self-sustaining. For this, its stage should be provided for commercial concerts, including in the Russian language. This is opposed by the Ministry of Culture, believing that this cultural hub should only promote national values, which are not in demand by the residents.
