Has the search for the new James Bond ended? Rumors are circulating that actor Callum Turner is telling friends he got the role. But the studios have not made an official announcement. Another year, and a new wave of casting rumors for "James Bond"...
After Daniel Craig's farewell film "No Time to Die" (2021), one question is on everyone's mind: who will be the next 007?
The identity of the seventh James Bond (not counting David Niven's version in the 1967 parody "Casino Royale") remains one of Hollywood's biggest mysteries, and there has been no official announcement yet, despite rumors that actors such as Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Holland, Harris Dickinson, and Scott Rose-Marsh are vying for the role of the new super-spy in "Bond 26" directed by Denis Villeneuve.
However, fans are confident that a major announcement is on the horizon, and one actor seems to have already let the cat out of the bag.
According to recent rumors, British actor Callum Turner is allegedly telling friends that he has been cast as the new 007.
Of course, the source is the British tabloid The Daily Mail, so this should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism, but it corroborates our previous report that Turner has become the frontrunner for the iconic role.
"He has been blabbing about it on every corner. Callum is the new Bond, that has been confirmed. Everyone around him is talking about it. It’s a secret that he is failing to keep," a source told the publication.
Turner, 35, is best known for his roles in the 2020 adaptation of Jane Austen's "Emma," the "Fantastic Beasts" spin-off series set in the Harry Potter universe, George Clooney's film "The Boys in the Boat," and the critically acclaimed miniseries "The Master of Air."
If confirmed, "Bond 26" could present an interesting duo: Turner's fiancée, pop star Dua Lipa, is considered one of the favorites to perform the new theme for "Bond."
While there is no official announcement yet, the stakes are open, and the number of speculations will only grow.
"Bond 26" will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, with the script written by "Peaky Blinders" creator Steven Knight. Production is expected to begin in 2027, with a release planned for 2028. This will be the first Bond film after Amazon gained full creative control over the franchise, and longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have stepped down from their positions.
