Today, these series would be called old, but they gave us an awesome childhood. While parents were busy at work and there was no Internet, all attention was focused on the television, which we watched alone, with friends, or with grandma. Back then, every series was an event, not a one-off. After all, we grew up with iconic images that we wanted to emulate. Let’s remember the series we will tell our children about.
“Smallville”
Although the series ended in 2017, most millennials and early Zoomers probably didn’t watch it to the end. In the 2000s, the story of Clark Kent, who appeared in Smallville as a result of a meteor shower, seemed mysterious, and his relationships with Lana Lang and Lex Luthor kept viewers glued to their screens. By the way, we previously wrote about “Smallville” star Allison Mack, who ended up in a cult and was involved in crimes.
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”
Buffy will forever remain a role model for many girls of the 90s and 2000s. We also loved to imagine ourselves in her place – a girl leading a double life: going to school during the day and slaying vampires at night. In 2026, we are expecting a continuation of the cult series with Sarah Michelle Gellar in the lead role. According to the plot, she will become the Watcher for a new vampire slayer named Nova, played by Ryan Kira Armstrong. The showrunners report that the pilot has already been filmed, but no exact release date for the series has been announced.
“Xena: Warrior Princess”
Many girls in childhood chose between team Xena and team Gabrielle. Before comics began to be widely adapted, they were our superheroes. And let’s admit, many imagined themselves throwing a discus just like Xena. Besides the vibrant female characters, we were captivated by the imaginary world where gods and humans coexist.
“Charmed”
In the past, the question of who you liked more from “Charmed” and the phrase “The Power of Three” became a pass to any girls' gathering. It was hard to find anyone indifferent to the mystical and romantic adventures of the three sisters with superpowers: Prue, Piper, and Phoebe.
“Baywatch”
“Baywatch” is invariably associated with Pamela Anderson in that iconic red swimsuit that many girls dreamed of. The atmosphere of the series about lifeguards running along the beach continues to captivate.
“Clone”
Today, reels with clips from “Clone” have gone viral. The series made us root for the relationship between Jade and Lucas in our childhood, but now many grown-up viewers lean towards the opinion that the best match for the heroine was actually Zayn.
“ALF”
ALF wins the title of the cutest alien. After crashing his spaceship, he ends up living with an ordinary American family. He taught us to look at the everyday life we live in paradoxically. And of course, we can’t forget his sense of humor and friendliness. ALF’s appearance in one of the episodes of the series “Young Sheldon” reminded us how much we missed the good comedies of the 90s.
