Why a Cat May Not Love Its Owner: Expert Opinions

Many cat owners may find it unpleasant to realize that their pet does not reciprocate their affection.

The reasons for this phenomenon are not always related to the "malice" of the pet: there are other circumstances that can influence a cat's attitude towards its owner. So why does a cat not show warm feelings towards its owner?

Physical Punishment

You cannot first punish a cat harshly and then expect it to love you. In most cases, the animal does not respond to physical punishment in the way the owner expects.

On the contrary, the pet may think that the person is showing aggression without any visible reason.

Therefore, experts advise against using physical violence as a method of punishment. What may seem like a harmless "educational technique" to the owner can cause the cat to stop loving them in an instant.

Selfishness

It is important to remember that cats highly value their personal boundaries and do not like being intruded upon without invitation.

If the animal wants interaction, it will approach the owner on its own.

If you see that the cat is sleeping, resting, or busy with its own affairs, it is best not to disturb it: the pet may be quite content with solitude. Try to engage the pet in play and observe its reaction.

Guests

Cats are not always happy when noisy strangers come into their home to spend time with their owner. Therefore, it is advisable not to frequently host friendly gatherings and noisy parties, as this may cause the cat to start disliking you.
