Do Cats Want to Become Mothers? Expert Opinions

Many cat owners are reluctant to sterilize their pets before their first pregnancy, believing that animals strive to experience the joy of motherhood.

Some cat owners believe that early sterilization is a cruel act, as the cat will not be able to "nurture" kittens.

Do animals really want to give birth?

This is a rather complex question, as it is impossible to directly know the answer from animals. However, experts are confident that a cat cannot desire to give birth.

In free or outdoor conditions, cats are driven by the instinct to reproduce. Once the kittens become adults and independent, the mother loses interest in them.

Familial feelings are absent in this case: the adult animal perceives the "youngsters" as competitors, not as "children".

As for professional breeding, this is a more complicated issue. Constant births do not benefit the health of the cat. If a cat is forced to give birth regularly, it will live significantly shorter than it could.

Therefore, it is important to care for the health of your pets and not attribute human feelings, thoughts, and desires to them.

It is believed that sterilized cats that have never given birth live longer and suffer less from chronic diseases.
