It is likely that it has not yet been discovered.
In recent decades, more than 10,000 new species of fish have been described. These are usually rare species; otherwise, they would have been discovered earlier. The population of many of them remains insufficiently studied.
For example, deep-sea fish of the genera Bathymicrops and Bathytyphlops are represented in zoological collections by only a few specimens.
The catfish Hypancistrus phantasma (in the photo) is known only from a few specimens caught by participants of the Swedish expedition in the South American river Rio Negro in 1924.
