In Riga, a rat saved a man from dying in a fire

On the morning of February 20, in the Vecdaugava neighborhood of Riga, a rat woke the owner of a private house during a fire, thereby protecting him from disaster. The miraculous rescue story was reported on the TV3 channel in the program Degpunktā.

It was early in the morning. The homeowner, Leonid, was still asleep when he was awakened by a loud noise. The man thought that the source of the noise was yet another rat, as rodents had long been a problem in the house.

When Leonid went to check what was happening, he saw that one of the rooms was already engulfed in flames. The man tried to extinguish the fire himself but realized it was futile and called the firefighters. The arriving rescuers extinguished the blaze.

According to the homeowner, he had killed about 128 rats in the house over the past two years. However, this time it was the noise made by the rodent early in the morning that woke the man and allowed him to detect the fire in time.

The cause of the fire, as the owner admitted, was the storage of firewood inside the premises. As a result of the fire, windows were shattered and structures were damaged in several rooms. Despite this, the man intends to personally eliminate the aftermath and continue living in the house where he has lived for about 50 years.
