Activists who participated in the search for the missing cat Twix found him dead. The animal died from hypothermia.
Recall that the incident with the cat occurred on January 11. The owner was traveling with her pet on a train from Yekaterinburg to St. Petersburg. A separate ticket and all necessary documents were issued for the cat.
At some point, the cat got out of the carrier and began to wander through the carriages. Other passengers noticed him. The conductor asked who owned the animal but could not find the owner. She decided that the cat was stray and threw him out at the next station.
After the incident, the transport police and the prosecutor's office began an investigation. No violations were found, as there was no crime at that time. However, after the cat's death, the situation changed. The conductor now faces criminal liability.
“The animal died. He froze to death. He perished because he was thrown out into the cold. In fact, he became a victim of the conductor's unprofessional actions,” commented the expert.
According to him, the conductor should have caught the animal and returned it to its owner. She now faces up to three years in prison under the article for cruelty to animals (Article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
