Where Do Mosquitoes and Flies Hibernate?

In cool shelters.

Mosquitoes of the Aedes genus hibernate only in the form of eggs, which are laid in bodies of water. Meanwhile, malaria-carrying mosquitoes such as Anopheles and Culex take shelter from the cold in tree hollows, burrows, and basements.

Most often, they enter a state of dormancy; however, some populations can reproduce even in winter in flooded basements.

Most flies survive the winter cold in the soil, while houseflies remain indoors. If a stove is lit in an abandoned village house, the 'awakened' flies will emerge from the crawl space or attic due to the warmth.
