Medical psychologist Irina Babkina shared how to make the most of the last month of winter to improve psychological and emotional well-being.
“By February, many start to feel fatigue and exhaustion. This is due to the fact that in winter, the body experiences a deficiency of vitamin D, and the cold weather does not encourage walks and entertainment. Circadian rhythms play an important role, the main one being light exposure. These rhythms affect our sleep-wake cycle, metabolism, hormone production, and temperature. A lack of sunlight can lead to apathy, low mood, and even depression,” noted the expert.
To boost your mood, the specialist recommends adding bright accents to your daily life: a new detail in your interior, an update in your wardrobe, or something new on your desk.
“Consult a doctor to determine if you need to take vitamin D. This will not only help strengthen your immune system before the upcoming changes in weather but also improve your overall well-being,” added the psychologist.
Irina Babkina also advises to walk more often, meet with friends, and make the most of the last month of winter, for example, by starting to learn something new: languages, knitting, dancing, drawing, or mastering a musical instrument.
“Don’t turn your life into waiting — that’s a postponed life. Don’t wait for something better, live here and now. Every season is beautiful!” concluded the expert.
