Psychotherapist Alexey Vilkov discussed the specifics of the crisis at 50, which often becomes a period of deep internal reassessment. At this age, a person involuntarily begins to take stock of their life, evaluating the path taken and the results achieved.
According to the specialist, a key feature of this stage is the gradual decline in internal motivation. Many begin to perceive their current situation as a kind of "ceiling" of opportunities, believing that they have missed the chance to realize more ambitious plans. This belief generates a sense of hopelessness, which manifests as passivity, a loss of interest in new endeavors, and a monotonous existence "on autopilot."
Vilkov points out that such internal discord often provokes the development of psycho-emotional disorders — from anxiety states to depressive episodes. These disorders, in turn, intensify feelings of apathy and lead to a noticeable decrease in life activity.
The specialist assured that there is a way out of the situation: "It is important to set new goals for oneself, keep a goal diary. Perhaps it is worth meeting new people who will motivate you to engage in new activities and lead an active lifestyle."
