In the run-up to the New Year holidays, pet owners face the pressing issue of protecting their trees and decorations from cats and other furry friends. Experienced owners and veterinarian A. Gritsfeld provided a number of valuable recommendations.
For example, you can suspend the tree from the ceiling. For this, you will need a hook for the chandelier or a special mounting (the electrical network must be de-energized, and the chandelier removed).
A good alternative to a real tree is a panel or a picture. There are now paper and felt trees available for sale that can be stuck to the wall like a poster.
You can also enclose the tree in a cage or surround it with transparent panels. The downside of this method is the significant reduction in aesthetic pleasure.
Additionally, mandarins, foil, and double-sided tape can help. Cats dislike when something sticks and rustles under their paws. They are also repelled by scents, such as citrus. If you don’t want to scatter mandarin peels around the tree, you can use special animal repellent sprays.
For a less serious but effective approach, you can surround the tree with a vacuum cleaner or trim it down completely, decorating only the top. By the way, it is not advisable to use tinsel, garlands, or electric lights as decorations, as if animals swallow them, it could end badly.
