Quick Marinade Recipe: You Can Grill Shashlik in Half an Hour

Shashlik usually requires lengthy preparation, but what to do if the decision to make it came spontaneously?

 

In such cases, a quick marinade recipe will help, allowing you to grill meat in just 25 minutes.

This recipe is suitable for pork, lamb, chicken, and turkey. It is better to leave beef to experienced chefs, as beginners and amateurs may find it challenging to work with.

Ingredients:

salt – 3 tbsp;
warm water (+35-40 °C);
onion – 1 medium onion;
garlic – 2 cloves;
bay leaf – 2-3 pcs;
cilantro or basil – 1 bunch;
black ground pepper – 1 tsp.

How to Marinate

First, prepare the meat: cut it into pieces about the size of 2/3 of a cigarette pack. Chicken wings, thighs, and drumsticks can be marinated whole.

Dissolve the salt in warm water until it is completely gone. Then slice the onion into rings and finely chop the herbs. Gently knead the onion and herbs with your hands.

In the final step, place the meat in warm salty water, add the onion, herbs, and bay leaf, squeeze in the garlic, and add black pepper.

Carefully but thoroughly knead all the ingredients with your hands for 2-3 minutes. Then leave to marinate at room temperature for 20 minutes. During this time, the meat will absorb the salt and the aromas of the onion, herbs, and spices.

After that, thread the shashlik onto skewers and send them to the grill. Before cooking, remove any remaining onion and herbs from the meat to prevent burning.
