Everyone loves salads. They can be complex or simple, vegetable or fruit, salty or sweet. However, despite the many options, there are a few simple tricks that can refresh any salad.
1. Include olives. Black, green, red — any kind. They will add a pleasant accent to your salad and enrich it with nutrients. Olives pair wonderfully with salty soft cheese, tomatoes, and sweet peppers.
2. Mix flavors and textures. Combine vegetables and fruits of varying firmness and structure in one salad to create more vibrant taste sensations. Such combinations will surely delight your taste buds. Let some ingredients crunch while others melt in your mouth.
3. Add nuts. Nuts and seeds can transform the flavor of any salad, making it deeper and richer. Use walnuts, pistachios, peanuts, or pine nuts — they have particularly strong flavors.
4. Include citrus fruits. Even in vegetable salads, you can add a bit of citrus — lemon, tangerine, or grapefruit. They can be used as a dressing. Try combining tangerines with beets and oranges with carrot salad. The taste will be very fresh.
5. Add seeds. This will significantly enhance the flavor of your salads. Use flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, or exotic options. White or black sesame seeds, cumin, or chia seeds will perfectly complement any salad.
6. Add bright colors. Combine products of different colors to make your salads look even more appetizing.
7. Use edible flowers. In summer, you can add flower petals to salads — marigolds, calendulas, violets, and others. Many of them have a spicy flavor and can replace spices.
8. Include berries. Berries can be added not only to fruit salads. Try combining them with vegetables — it will yield excellent results. Cherries pair wonderfully with beets, while strawberries go well with arugula and tomatoes.
9. Mix sweet and salty. This will open up new taste horizons for you. For example, sweet watermelon pairs excellently with salty feta, and melon with ham. Experiment, and you will surely find something unique.
10. Use microgreens. Tiny sprouts from seeds of most herbs and other crops have a bright flavor and high nutritional value. Try adding pea, cilantro, or sunflower microgreens — they will give your salads a completely new taste.
