Breakfast is rightly considered the most important meal of the day. The right foods will help you focus and stay alert.
Do you constantly lose your keys and can’t remember if you turned off the iron? People prone to distraction find it difficult in a world where they need to retain a lot of information while simultaneously focusing on important tasks, notes Doctorpiter.
What should you do if you are not very attentive and tend to daydream? As endocrinologist Zuhra Pavlova emphasizes in her Telegram channel, a proper breakfast can become your ally.
According to the doctor, if you want to improve your attention, you should focus on protein-rich foods in your morning menu. The endocrinologist mentioned a study that confirmed that such a breakfast not only satisfies but also activates mental resources.
Essence of the Study
The experiment involved 30 women aged 18 to 30 with a diagnosis of obesity. On the first day, their breakfast consisted of protein-rich foods (dairy products and oatmeal), on the second day it consisted of carbohydrates (bread and jam), and on the third day the participants skipped breakfast altogether.
During lunch, the participants' satiety levels, hormonal background, and energy consumption were measured, with the latter parameter also measured in the evening. Additionally, the subjects underwent attention concentration tests.
Here’s what the scientists found:
* Protein-rich foods for breakfast help improve concentration;
* Satiety from such a meal lasts for several hours;
* With equal calorie content, high-protein dishes satisfy faster, which can be especially useful for weight loss.
“It’s important not to limit yourself to just proteins; fats and carbohydrates also matter. Balance is the key to success,” emphasizes Pavlova.
High-Protein Foods
* Cottage cheese,
* Eggs,
* Greek yogurt,
* Chicken,
* Legumes,
* Oatmeal,
* Protein bars.
The Formula for an Ideal Breakfast
It’s clear about proteins, but what other criteria should a healthy breakfast meet? If you want to stay full for a long time, add more fiber-rich foods to your morning meal. They will not only make the dish more filling but also ensure comfortable gastrointestinal function.
It’s better to avoid foods high in sugar. Such a breakfast can cause a sharp spike in insulin in the blood, and your appetite will soon return with renewed vigor. Desserts shouldn’t be demonized—eat them in moderation throughout the day, but it’s better not to have them as your first meal.
