Phlebologist highlights three key products that help reduce blood viscosity and dissolve blood clots

Blood clots are clumps of blood that form inside blood vessels and obstruct normal blood flow. Vascular surgeon and phlebologist Maxim Abasov spoke about three products that help dissolve blood clots.

First of all, it is important to consume enough water, as it helps to thin the blood, which accelerates the process of clot resorption. It is also recommended to include onions and garlic in the diet, as these vegetables help reduce blood viscosity and prevent thickening. In the presence of thrombosis, it is beneficial to eat beets, which improve intestinal function and thus prevent constipation.

“Constipation is categorically unacceptable in thrombosis, as it increases intra-abdominal pressure, which disrupts venous outflow,” emphasizes the doctor.

Abasov also pointed out the products to avoid in thrombosis. First and foremost, alcohol: it contributes to blood thickening, causes dehydration, and can lead to an increase in the clot. It is recommended to limit the intake of foods high in vitamin K (such as greens, spinach, broccoli, basil, etc.). It is also advisable to avoid smoked and salty foods to prevent overloading the liver and hindering its production of enzymes necessary for thinning the blood.

The doctor emphasizes that comprehensive examination and treatment are required in thrombosis. If you have been diagnosed with thrombosis, merely changing your diet will not be sufficient.
