This drink lowers cholesterol levels and supports heart health: it is tastier than coffee and healthier than tea — a doctor's recommendation
The doctor recommends consuming two cups a day
Cardiologist Elena Koval shared information about a drink that helps lower levels of 'bad' cholesterol, normalize blood pressure, increase vascular elasticity, and improve heart function. Moreover, it turns out to be tastier than coffee and healthier than tea. According to the doctor, this drink is cocoa.
As Koval explained, a large-scale study was conducted in the Netherlands at the end of the 20th century, which examined the impact of cocoa on human health. As a result, it was found that those who regularly consumed cocoa had, on average, lower blood pressure than those who did not drink this beverage.
Researchers discovered that the positive effects on the heart and blood vessels were due to the oils and antioxidants contained in cocoa. They contributed to improved blood flow, normalization of pressure, and even slowed aging processes by 5–10 years compared to those who did not drink cocoa.
The cardiologist emphasized that cocoa is rich in flavonoids, which activate brain function, strengthen memory, and improve attention.
Elena Koval added that despite all its beneficial properties, it is recommended to limit consumption to two cups of cocoa a day. Special caution should be exercised by people with obesity and diabetes.
