How to Deliciously Cook Bulgur with Vegetables: Easy Recipe

Cooking this porridge does not require special effort.

 

If you are looking for a quick and appetizing lunch, consider bulgur. Cooked with vegetables, it makes an excellent side dish for meat dishes. Additionally, this dish turns out to be very filling.

Recipe

Ingredients:

water (boiling) - 2 cups
bulgur - 1 cup
sweet pepper - 2 pcs.
tomatoes - 2 pcs.
onion - 1 pc.
carrot - 1 pc.
peas (frozen green) - 50 g
garlic - 3 cloves
parsley - 1 bunch
salt - to taste
black ground pepper - to taste

Preparation:

Start by preparing the vegetables. Peel and chop them: onion - diced, carrot - grated, pepper - finely diced. Slice the tomatoes into rounds. Peel the garlic and lightly crush it with a knife. Also, finely chop the herbs.

Before cooking, bulgur needs to be rinsed. The first step is to heat the grains, so pour the rinsed bulgur into a heated pan with olive oil and sauté for 5 minutes until it acquires a light golden hue.

Now, take care of the vegetables. Place the onion in the heated pan and sauté until golden. Then add the carrot and simmer them together. When the onion and carrot are ready, combine them with the bulgur in the pan and continue to heat, stirring constantly.

Add the chopped pepper and frozen peas. Mix all the ingredients and season to taste.

Top with the sliced tomatoes and garlic. Pour boiling water over everything; chicken broth can also be used. When the porridge comes to a boil, simmer it for another 20-30 minutes. The bulgur will be ready when all the water is absorbed by the grains. Before serving, sprinkle the finished dish with chopped parsley.
