Dietitian Daria PUSHKAREVA warns that unripe persimmons, like other unripe fruits, should not be consumed.
Unripe persimmon has a binding effect and can, in some cases, lead to intestinal obstruction, pain, and constipation. Unripe fruits are contraindicated for elderly people and patients with chronic digestive system diseases, and pregnant and breastfeeding women are also at risk. Children under two years old should not be given this fruit even in its ripe form.
Persimmons can be ripened at home. The simplest way is to leave it in a warm place for a few days.
It is also possible to freeze persimmons. After thawing, it will not be sticky, but it will become less sweet and juicy.
