The Fastest Lobio: An Appetizing and Healthy Recipe

Usually, this Georgian dish requires a lot of time to prepare, as the beans need to be soaked for several hours and then boiled for at least 40 minutes.

 

This quick lobio recipe is made from canned beans in just a few minutes. We recommend serving it as a hot dish rather than a snack, adding a bit of butter — this will significantly enhance the flavor!

INGREDIENTS

3 cans (400 g each) of red beans
50 g of walnuts
1 medium bunch of cilantro (40 g)
2 medium red onions (300 g)
3 cloves of garlic (15 g)
30 g of vegetable oil
50 g of butter
salt
freshly ground black pepper

STEP-BY-STEP RECIPE

Step 1

Drain the beans in a colander and rinse under cold water. Let them dry. Peel the onion and chop it finely. Sauté in oil with a pinch of salt for 7–8 minutes.

Step 2

Finely chop the peeled garlic, cilantro with roots, and walnuts. Place everything in a hand blender cup, add a little salt and pepper, and blend until you get a smooth paste.

Step 3

Add the sautéed onion and blend again. Mix the blender paste with the beans. You can leave it as is, blend it into a puree, or partially blend it to keep some bean pieces.

Step 4

Melt the butter over low heat, add the lobio, and warm it up. Serve hot.
