There are a number of foods capable of lowering blood pressure, said endocrinologist O. Mikhaleva.
According to the specialist, the first category of such foods lowers blood pressure due to the bioflavonoids they contain, which dilate blood vessels and improve blood circulation. These include pomegranate and orange juices, dark chocolate, and cocoa.
The second category includes foods rich in nitrogen compounds that relax the walls of blood vessels. A particularly pronounced effect is observed with beets.
In addition, the doctor emphasized the importance of consuming fish oil found in herring and mackerel. She warned against choosing salted types of fish, as excess salt, on the contrary, raises blood pressure.
The expert also recommended including foods rich in magnesium and lycopene in the diet. Magnesium is found in whole grains, nuts, green vegetables, and legumes, while lycopene is present in red fruits.
