Scientists have calculated the oil that prevents weight gain and slows down aging

Those who aim to lose weight should not refuse fats. Only their sources should be changed.

One of the best fat-rich products is extra virgin olive oil, which is referred to as "liquid gold" in the Mediterranean.

Nowadays, scientists from the University of Bari Aldo Moro (Italy) in collaboration with colleagues from Spain and Greece have proven that people who regularly consume olive oil are less likely to face obesity. What the study showed

The study involved more than 16,000 adult men and women. Before the start of the experiment, they reported on their diet, level of physical activity, and measured key health parameters such as body mass index and waist circumference.

After analyzing the data, the specialists found that those who consumed olive oil 3–4 times a week had a lower percentage of visceral fat. Additionally, olive oil enthusiasts exhibited stable blood pressure and fewer complaints of fatigue.

What is the power of "liquid gold"

The properties of olive oil can be explained by its composition. This cold-pressed product is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, polyphenols, and vitamin E.

A strong antioxidant complex is formed, which:

supports vascular elasticity and normal blood circulation;
protects cells from oxidative stress;
softens the skin and improves its tone;
helps control blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

How to use oil for health benefits

Olive oil is suitable for salads, cooked dishes with meat and fish, pasta, and sauces. However, it should not be used for frying. When heated, valuable antioxidants are destroyed, and harmful compounds are formed in their place.

A person needs to consume 1–2 tablespoons of oil per day. This amount is sufficient to meet the fat requirement.
