Nutritionists have chosen a safe meat delicacy: it contains less fat and salt

A sandwich with a piece of meat is perhaps the most optimal option for a snack. Ham, sausage, and carbonade — the selection of delicacies is vast, but which of them can be considered healthy?

Experts from Health magazine surveyed nutritionists to find out which meat product can be included in the diet. It turned out that all doctors unanimously advised choosing turkey products.

Benefits of Turkey

In terms of nutritional value, 2 slices of delicacy (for example, boiled ham from turkey breast) contain about 50 kcal and 11 g of protein.

"In terms of its nutritional profile, turkey stands out among other meat delicacies because it contains less saturated fat and calories, which is beneficial for those losing weight or individuals with a weakened cardiovascular system," explained nutritionist Lena Bakovich.

Additionally, poultry meat is rich in B vitamins, zinc, and selenium, which support immunity and strengthen the health of skin, bones, and muscles.

How to Choose Turkey in the Store

According to nutritionists, it is better to prefer baked turkey breast: such semi-finished products in vacuum packaging are often found in stores. Properly cooked ham is also suitable. It is very important that the product contains:

  • less salt, synthetic preservatives, and flavor enhancers;
  • no added sugar;
  • more protein.
