How to Make Tomato Carpaccio

The main secret of the dish is fresh and ripe tomatoes. One large fruit is enough for a serving. The other ingredients can be chosen to taste; you can take:

  • a few rings of red onion;
  • olive oil;
  • parmesan;
  • pesto;
  • herbs (basil or parsley).

Slice the tomatoes and onion into thin slices. They should be translucent, so use a convenient and sharp knife right away. Some chefs suggest using a bread knife, as it does not damage the delicate flesh of the vegetable.

The next step is to mix olive oil, salt, pepper, and a little pesto on a plate.

You can start assembling. Place the tomatoes on top, sprinkle with onion, herbs, and parmesan. Drizzle with oil for aroma.

To make the dish heartier, you can add slices of mozzarella, burrata balls, or shrimp. Another idea, more related to an impressive presentation, is to use tomato varieties of different colors.
