Police uncovered a series of vehicle damages in Daugavpils: a man arrested for puncturing tires

The State Police has completed the investigation into a series of vehicle damages in Daugavpils. According to the investigation, the same person punctured the tires of 17 cars and smashed the headlight of an expensive Audi Q8 SUV.

In Daugavpils, the investigation into a criminal case of mass vehicle damage has been completed. The materials have already been forwarded to the prosecutor's office to initiate criminal proceedings.

According to the State Police, a man born in 1987 has been arrested on suspicion of committing the crimes. He has been placed under arrest as a preventive measure.

The investigation began on March 19, 2026, after a report of damage to an Audi Q8 vehicle. An unknown person smashed the front headlight of the car, causing the owner approximately 2000 euros in damages.

During the investigation, the police identified a possible perpetrator and discovered that this case was not isolated. According to law enforcement, the arrested man was linked to another 17 episodes of intentional damage to property. In all cases, it involved punctured tires of vehicles in various locations in Daugavpils.

Investigators combined all criminal processes into one case.

On May 20, employees of the Investigation Department of the South Latgale precinct completed the investigation and forwarded the materials to the prosecutor's office.

So far, the police have not disclosed possible motives for the actions of the arrested individual and have not clarified whether the vehicle owners were random victims or if there was any connection between them.

The series of vehicle damages has caused a wide resonance in Daugavpils, as it involves dozens of episodes and significant material damage.

The State Police reminds that a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law.
