On Friday, 99 traffic accidents were registered in Latvia, resulting in two fatalities and 15 injuries, according to the State Police.
On Friday morning, a truck and an Audi car collided on the Vidzeme highway in the Gaujiena municipality of the Smiltene region, resulting in the Audi being completely wrecked. One person died in the accident.
The second fatality was registered in an accident in the Zemgale region.
The police detained 12 drivers for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol yesterday, and ten criminal cases have been initiated.
A total of 270 reports were filed for speeding, and three drivers were fined for aggressive driving.
In total, the police issued 596 reports of traffic violations yesterday.
