Tragedy in Riga, in Ziepniekkalns. A 16-year-old teenager died after falling from a height of about 25 meters. Neighbors refuse to believe that the young man voluntarily ended his life.
Last weekend, a sixteen-year-old boy fell from the window of an eighth-floor apartment on Ozolciema Street. The consequences were fatal. The tragedy has shaken the entire neighborhood — there is now more shock, uncertainty, and questions than clear answers, reports the show Degpunktā (TV3).
"We only saw everything after the body was covered with a blue tarp. It was around noon, but apparently, we had to wait a long time for someone to come and take the person away," said resident Sarma.
"The person is lying on the ground. It’s impossible to understand — did he jump out by himself or what happened. No one knows what happened," said another local resident.
According to those around, the teenager came from a well-off family. He had two brothers, and all three were raised by their father alone. In the young man, at least outwardly, nothing indicated a serious internal conflict that could have driven him to such an act. Acquaintances are convinced that there is something suspicious about his death.
"We don’t know if he jumped out by himself or if it was an accident," said a neighbor.
"I don’t believe he committed suicide. I knew him. He was in the parallel class with my daughter. He did not commit suicide. He was smart, attended music school, and had good grades. He didn’t do this — I can say that," noted a neighbor.
In September, the teenager was supposed to turn 17. Law enforcement has taken statements from residents of the building and, presumably, from the family. Although the residents are convinced that it was not suicide, the police are currently treating the incident as a tragic accident with no signs of violence.
