The stay of Prime Minister Evika Silina ("New Unity"), her advisor Ieva Ziberga, and a bodyguard in the VIP lounge at Amsterdam Airport in March 2024 cost taxpayers 4184 euros including VAT, according to copies of the bills available to the LETA agency.

The stay of Silina, Ziberga, and the bodyguard in the VIP lounge at Amsterdam Airport on March 10 cost a total of 1820 euros, and on March 15 — 1638 euros. More detailed items on the bill are not specified.

Including value-added tax, the total amount was 4184 euros and 18 cents. A single bill was issued for both visits — it was provided to the State Chancellery of Latvia by the Latvian Embassy in the Netherlands, and it was signed by the ambassador in the Netherlands, former Speaker of the Saeima, and leader of the "Vienotība" party, Solvita Aboltina.

Aboltina confirmed to the LETA agency that she signed the bill for the use of the VIP lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The bill was issued for the use of the VIP lounge by Silina and two other individuals twice — on the way to New York and back. The bill was paid on April 19.

Silina was on a visit to the USA from March 11 to March 14, 2024. During the visit, she participated in the 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, met with the UN Secretary-General, and other officials.

As reported by bb.lv, yesterday, former director of the State Chancellery Janis Citkovskis revealed some secrets of the travels of Latvian leaders.

In response, Prime Minister Evika Silina stated that high-ranking officials are entitled to VIP lounges at airports. When asked about the specific amounts, the head of government replied that she "does not remember all the bills."
