In the last three days, 133 dry grass fires have been extinguished in Latvia, reported the State Fire and Rescue Service (GPRS).
The largest fires occurred in Latgale. In Daugavpils, dry grass burned over an area of 5 hectares, in the Rezekne region, one fire covered an area of 1.5 hectares, another over 3.5 hectares, and in yet another case, grass and two electric poles burned over an area of 5 hectares.
Meanwhile, in Jekabpils, a fire occurred over an area of more than 2.5 hectares, and in the Ludza region, dry grass burned over an area of 2.5 hectares.
In the past three days, the State Fire and Rescue Service (GPRS) received 301 calls - 175 for fire extinguishing, including 133 dry grass fires and three forest fires, 61 for rescue operations, and 65 calls turned out to be false.
