The underground observation post was decommissioned in the 1990s.

Above the beach at Tunstall in East Yorkshire stands a building that was constructed in 1959 as an observation post in case of nuclear war. There is a high likelihood that it could collapse into the sea within a few days, reports the Independent.

It is noted that this building was likely decommissioned in the 1990s. Currently, according to the Environment Agency, it is teetering on a cliff about 7.6 meters above the beach.

"We live on one of the most eroded coastlines in Europe, and this bunker has little time left, possibly just a few days," said amateur historian Davy Robinson to reporters.

The underground observation post was decommissioned in the 1990s shortly after the end of the Cold War. It is now on private property, and local authorities bear no legal responsibility for it.

The publication noted that the problem is that the coastline in the area where the building is located is unprotected, allowing coastal processes to continue. This is why people have been urged to stay away from the site.
