On Friday, eight people were injured as a result of traffic accidents (DTP) in Latvia, reports the State Police.
In the past 24 hours, 148 traffic accidents have been registered in the country, with people injured in seven of them. Among the injured were one pedestrian and two cyclists, with the highest number of injuries recorded in the Riga region - four people.
Nine drivers were detained for operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol, and one for driving under the influence of narcotic substances. In eight cases, the drivers were held criminally liable.
A total of 450 protocols were drawn up for various traffic violations, including 164 for speeding.
