Sensing smoke and noticing a fire, on Friday a child stopped a passing car and, with the help of adults, called for rescuers, reports LETA citing the State Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS).
In the daily incident report, the State Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) particularly highlighted this call, in which the child's correct actions played a crucial role when a fire broke out in his home.
Sensing the smell of smoke and noticing the fire, the child ran out of the house, stopped a passing car, and reported that a fire had started in the house. The GFRS also notes the actions of the drivers who did not remain indifferent and stopped upon seeing the child desperately trying to reach out to them.
After listening to the child's account, the adults called the emergency number 112 and then entered the building. The area of the fire was small, so they began extinguishing it with fire extinguishers until the firefighters arrived.
The GFRS urges parents to discuss with their children the correct actions in case of a fire. It is important to explain to the child that in the event of a fire, the most important thing is to exit the building or get as far away from the source and smoke as possible, to save themselves and not to hide under any circumstances. Additionally, a note with the emergency number 112 can be left in a visible place in the house, indicating whom to call in case of trouble.
Furthermore, it is important for children to know that they can always seek help from adults.
