Over the past day, 20 drivers of vehicles in a state of alcohol intoxication were detained on the roads of Latvia, according to summarized operational information from the State Police.
In ten cases, criminal proceedings have been initiated for driving under the influence, meaning the drivers were in a state of severe intoxication or were driving without a valid license, or caused a traffic accident. In the bodies of the other ten detained drivers, the alcohol concentration did not exceed 1.5 per mille, so they were held administratively liable.
For three of the initiated criminal cases, a decision has been made to confiscate the vehicle, while in seven cases, a monetary amount will be recovered, which may reach the value of the vehicle used at the time of the violation, according to the summarized statistics from the police over the past day.
