On Wednesday in Salaspils, as a result of a fire in a public building, 20 people were evacuated from it, the State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) reported to the LETA agency.
At 14:22, the State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) received a call in the Salaspils region, Salaspils parish, where a resistor was burning in the basement of a one-story public building, covering an area of three square meters. Before the arrival of the SFRS, 20 people were evacuated from the building. Shortly before 16:00, firefighters completed their work at the scene.
Shortly before 20:00, the SFRS received a call on Jaunsaules Street in Riga, where household items were burning in the basement of a one-story residential building, covering an area of seven square meters. Two people were evacuated from the building before the arrival of the SFRS.
Over the past 24 hours — from 6:30 on Wednesday to 6:30 on Thursday — the SFRS received 37 calls: five for fire extinguishing, 21 for rescue operations, and 11 calls turned out to be false. Among other incidents, soot in the chimney of a residential building, a washing machine, and two ignited passenger cars were extinguished.
