On the night of October 22, officers of the Riga Municipal Police received a call to the Central area: two young men attacked a foreign citizen, struck him in the head, and then robbed him, the police reported.
Upon arriving at the scene, police encountered a group of young people and detained one of the individuals, after which the other participants began to flee. An additional unit of the municipal police was called in to apprehend the offenders, and the State Police were informed of the incident.
Shortly thereafter, two individuals involved in the attack were detained, and a wallet belonging to the victim, containing identification documents, was found on them. At the same time, the State Police reported that in a nearby park, a group of young people had attacked other individuals.
Staff at the municipal police's video surveillance center, reviewing the footage, established that both incidents were related to the same group of young people. While patrolling the area, police noticed the remaining suspects and proceeded to detain them.
The detained individuals were handed over to the State Police for further procedural actions, and a criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident.
