The man managed to infiltrate seven out of nineteen municipal kindergartens in Liepāja. The police detained him on suspicion of thefts and initiated a criminal process, reports LTV.
On the evening of October 20, a man, possibly a thief, entered the territory of the "Liepiņa" kindergarten in Liepāja. "He is about 30–40 years old. He was dressed quite neatly, so he would not have raised suspicions as a person with bad intentions. The duty administrator noticed the intruder through the window and immediately called the police at 112 to report the incident," said Agnese Verbēle, the head of the "Liepiņa" preschool institution, to LTV.
The police arrived too late – the man had left the premises. The vigilant head of "Liepiņa" was warned by other kindergartens. It turned out that in recent days, a man had been seen in many preschool institutions, accompanying the parents of the children onto the premises.
"We received signals from the directors of seven preschool institutions that a thief had been spotted there. Of course, this did not happen in one day, but over several days. However, after the first incident, the police were informed," reported Inga Ekuzē, the head of the Liepāja Education Department.
The State Police, upon learning that money had been stolen from the teachers' wallets, initiated a criminal process and detained one suspect. In the interest of the investigation, the police are not disclosing details for now.
