Yesterday, rescuers were needed to assist four people who could not find their way out of the forest at night, the LETA agency was informed by the State Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS).
Yesterday, shortly before midnight, the State Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) received a call in Barta, South Kurzeme region, where four people got lost in the forest. The service staff indicated the direction to exit the forest using sound and light signals from the fire truck. The operation was completed at 1:00 AM.
On the night of Sunday, the GFRS received a call in the Brenguļi parish of Valmiera region, where household items and garbage were burning on the first floor of a two-story residential building, covering an area of half a square meter. Before the GFRS arrived, three people evacuated from the building. After two hours of work, the firefighters completed extinguishing the fire.
In the last 24 hours, from October 24 to the morning of October 27, the GFRS received 92 calls: 19 for fire extinguishing, 57 for rescue operations, and 16 calls turned out to be false.
