On Monday, five people were injured in a fire in the engine room of a vessel in the Riga district of Vecmilgrāvis, reports the LETA agency, citing the State Fire and Rescue Service (GPRS).
At 11:16, the State Fire and Rescue Service (GPRS) received a call to Gales Street, where a ship repair yard is located. At the specified address, insulation of the generator and wire connections were burning in the engine room of the vessel over an area of 12 square meters. Upon arrival, rescuers evacuated 11 people from the burning vessel, five of whom were injured as a result of the fire.
The fire was extinguished at 14:22.
At 15:40, a call was received to Kleistu Street in Riga, where the kitchen and household items were burning in an apartment on the first floor of a five-story residential building, covering an area of two square meters. Before the arrival of GPRS, two people evacuated from the building, one of whom was injured in the fire.
Over the past 24 hours, GPRS received 40 calls: 13 for firefighting, 14 for rescue operations, and 13 calls turned out to be false.
