Continuing the investigation of the already initiated criminal case regarding the trafficking of prohibited substances and the overdose incident of a young woman in Kuldiga, the police discovered a large quantity of narcotic and psychotropic substances in more than 100 hideouts, the State Police reported to the LETA agency.
On September 24, the same day a young woman was admitted to the Kuldiga hospital with a diagnosis of "drug poisoning," the State Police detained one person and conducted procedural actions. A total of three individuals were detained on suspicion of illegal drug and psychotropic substance trafficking, one of whom was placed in custody.
During a search at the residence of the detained young woman in Kuldiga, seven packages containing a green-brown dried plant substance, possibly marijuana, seven electronic cigarettes without excise stamps, cash, and one pack of cigarettes without Latvian excise stamps were discovered and seized.
During a search at the residence of another detained young woman in Ventspils, one tablet of MDMA and two cigarettes with a smell characteristic of marijuana were found.
In turn, narcotic and psychotropic substances were discovered and seized from the vehicles used by the detained man and from his residence in Ventspils. A total of 198 tablets of MDMA, 269.77 grams of dried cannabis, and several plastic bags were found.
During the investigation of the criminal case, it was revealed that the detained man had set up a hideout where he stored narcotic substances. The police discovered a total of 103 hideouts in the forests of Jūrmala and Jelgava. LSD stamps and MDMA tablets were stored there.
In total, during the search and from the hideouts within the framework of the criminal proceedings, 376 tablets of MDMA, approximately 276.77 grams of cannabis, and 147 LSD stamps were seized.
Employees of the investigative department of the North Kurzeme police department continue to work on the initiated criminal case, and forensic examinations have been appointed to determine the cause of the woman's death, as well as the composition and quantity of the seized narcotic and psychotropic substances.
As previously reported, in September, a woman died in the Kuldiga hospital, presumably from poisoning with synthetic drugs.
