The Latgale District Court reviewed a criminal case against a man for the corruption of two individuals under the age of 16, as well as for committing sexual acts, reported prosecutor representative Laura Krastinā.
For the committed crimes, the court sentenced the man to a total of 18 years in prison with a probation period of five years.
According to the prosecution, the punishment imposed by the court is fair and proportionate, and the prosecutor does not intend to appeal it.
The prosecution urges anyone who has even the slightest suspicion that a child may have become a victim of sexual or other violence to immediately contact the State Police.
Sexual violence is any sexual act: attempts to engage in sexual intercourse, unwanted sexual comments or actions directed against another person's sexuality without the consent of that person (using coercion or otherwise).
