In connection with the tragedy at the crossing near the Imanta station, the Consumer Rights Protection Center (CRPC) began an inspection of the safety of services provided by Ride (the electric scooter on which the deceased girls were riding) and suspended them until a decision is made, the agency reported.

As reported by the Consumer Rights Protection Center (CRPC), after the death of the teenagers, it received a letter from the mayor of Riga, Viesturs Kleinbergs, and began an inspection of the services provided by the involved company.

"According to the Law on the Safety of Goods and Services, in the opinion of the CRPC, the provision of the electric scooter rental service offered by the company is unacceptable and is suspended until further decision by the CRPC," the press release from the supervisory organization states.

It is also reported that the company must provide evidence confirming the cessation of services by noon on October 3.

The agency notes that one of the main risks is likely the availability of the service to children, even though it is not intended for them, and the company does not ensure user age verification.
