The Riga District Court in Jurmala sentenced former head of the food warehouse of the National Armed Forces of Latvia, Inga Kaminska, to four years in prison for abuse of office, document forgery, and fraud related to food procurement, the LETA agency found out in court.
It was also decided to confiscate the Hyundai Santa Fe from Kaminska.
According to publicly available information, Kaminska held a position with a long title – head of the food warehouse of the supply company of the supply platoon of the Third Regional Supply Center of the National Armed Forces Command.
Without naming the individual, the prosecutor's office previously stated in a press release for the media that the official, acting out of selfish motives, from March 15, 2022, to March 1, 2023, when ordering products from one company, indicated to its representatives the actual products supplied to the National Armed Forces and their quantities, as well as gave instructions on which goods and in what volumes should not be supplied but fictitiously included in the invoices as delivered.
This company is a long-time supplier of food for the army, SIA Lanekss, which has already been punished in a separate process.
Kaminska and two private individuals are also accused of having, acting out of selfish motives and in collusion, forged documents – 169 invoices that Kaminska submitted to the accounting department of the National Armed Forces for payment.
Thus, the individuals fraudulently appropriated €113,519, which was transferred to the bank account of the specified company.
In turn, a forced fine of €101,500 was imposed on Lanekss. According to data from the Firmas.lv portal, the company Lanekss was founded in 2001, with a share capital of €2,840. The company is owned by a certain Nina Silina (not to be confused with Evika Silina). In 2024, its turnover amounted to €5.62 million, and the year ended with a profit of €0.89 million. Thus, a fine of €101,500 is quite manageable for it.
