The revenues of gambling companies in Latvia increased by almost 10% at the beginning of the year. The main growth was driven by online casinos and interactive gambling, while traditional gaming halls have nearly ceased to grow.

In the first quarter of 2026, the revenues of gambling companies in Latvia reached 72.86 million euros. This is 9.7% more than in the same period last year, according to data from the State Revenue Service.

The main driver of growth has once again been online gambling. Revenues from interactive gambling increased by 16.2% to reach 44.1 million euros.

In fact, the internet segment currently accounts for the majority of growth in the entire gambling industry in the country. Revenues from online casinos grew particularly quickly — they increased by 17.2% and amounted to nearly 37.8 million euros. Revenues from card games and online betting also rose.

Against this backdrop, traditional slot machines show almost zero growth. Revenues from slot machines in venues increased by only 0.2% to 25.7 million euros.

This may indicate that the market is gradually shifting towards mobile applications and online platforms.

The decline is even more pronounced in some offline formats. Revenues from betting shops decreased by more than a quarter, while bingo halls saw a decline of nearly a third. In fact, classic gambling formats continue to lose popularity compared to digital services.

Currently, 20 companies organize gambling in Latvia. Of these, 18 operate in the field of interactive gambling.

Market growth has been ongoing for several years, although its pace is gradually changing. While in 2025 the total revenues of gambling companies virtually ceased to grow — with an increase of only 0.1% — the beginning of 2026 again showed a more active dynamic.

Additional changes are also occurring in the oversight system. Since April of this year, the Lottery and Gambling Supervision Inspection has been merged with the State Revenue Service. This is part of a broader reorganization of state control in the industry.

The growth of online gambling remains one of the most noticeable trends in the Latvian entertainment market in recent years. It is the digital segment that is gradually changing the structure of the entire industry.
