Latvia received the report of the sixth round of the MONEYVAL assessment, which confirmed the country's effectiveness in combating financial crimes and significantly strengthened the integrity of the financial sector. This was reported by the Register of Enterprises of the Republic of Latvia.
The Register of Enterprises of Latvia received the highest possible rating in the field of transparency of legal entities. Latvia is the first and only country to receive the highest rating — High — in both the fifth and sixth rounds of assessment for Immediate Outcome 5, which pertains to the transparency of legal entities and legal arrangements.
"This confirms that the system for disclosing beneficial owners in Latvia is one of the strongest in the world," stated the register.
"At the same time, it should be emphasized that high standards also mean more complex work. Compliance requirements, especially in cases of heightened risk — for example, with complex ownership structures, jurisdictions with limited information accessibility, or atypical legal arrangements — can create additional challenges. However, in such situations, thorough verification is not an obstacle but a necessary condition for a safe business environment," the organization stated.
The Register of Enterprises emphasizes that in the investment environment, not only the speed of registration is important, but also its quality. Fast registration alone is not an advantage if the business environment is opaque and partners create risks. On the contrary, reliable, verified, and transparent information is the foundation of sustainable investments and safe cooperation.
