In March, Riga's public transport transported 10,705,800 passengers, which is 5.1% more than in the same period last year, reported Baiba Bartashevicha-Feldmane, head of the public relations department of "Rīgas satiksme".
The most passengers in March were transported by buses, followed by trolleybuses and trams.
The most popular tram route in March was route 1, which transported 1,116,058 passengers. Among trolleybuses, the highest number of passengers was recorded on route 4 - 570,813 people, while among buses, route 3 led with 672,869 passengers transported.
In total, in March, Riga's public transport was used by: buses - 4,713,766 passengers, trolleybuses - 3,614,115 passengers, trams - 2,377,919 passengers.
The least demanded in March was trolleybus route 20, which was used by 3,461 passengers. In bus services, the least popular was route 34 - 7,293 passengers.
The turnover of "Rīgas satiksme" last year, according to preliminary data, amounted to 53.622 million euros, which is 2.2% more than the previous year.
"Rīgas satiksme" provides passenger transport by buses, trams, and trolleybuses in Riga, as well as manages parking on city streets. The sole owner of the enterprise is the Riga City Council.
