The retail chain of stores SIA "Latvijas Tirgotāju savienība" ("LaTS") significantly expands its assortment in 2026, focusing on local products and improving logistics.

"This year we will significantly expand the range of vegetables grown in Latvia, as well as ensure supply capabilities with temperature control," noted Commercial Director Vitaly Roschin. This means both a wider selection of local products and new opportunities for retail stores across the country.

This step is part of a broader development strategy aimed at strengthening the supply system and ensuring more efficient availability of goods for the chain's stores.

Temperature-controlled logistics means that products requiring a specific temperature — such as fresh food — are transported under appropriate conditions. This allows stores to maintain a fresh assortment while simultaneously reducing risks associated with transportation and storage. Such an approach is becoming increasingly important given the growing demands for food safety.

Expanding the assortment of local vegetables is another important area of development. This not only supports Latvian producers but also provides customers with fresher products with a shorter supply chain, contributing to more sustainable retail development.

Improvements in the supply system cover the entire chain and are especially important for regions where small stores often find it more challenging to compete with large retail chains. More stable and predictable delivery times allow for more effective inventory planning, avoiding shortages of in-demand products and reducing excess stock.

One of the key advantages of the system is centralized delivery from a single warehouse. This model simplifies the daily operations of stores — reducing the number of suppliers, the volume of invoices, and administrative burden. This allows for greater focus on customer service and assortment development.

Overall, these improvements enhance the competitiveness of the "LaTS" network participants, allowing them to offer a wider range and respond more quickly to customer demand. The introduction of temperature-controlled deliveries in this context is an important step that expands the possibilities for offering products with special storage conditions.

As V. Roschin emphasized, these changes are part of a long-term strategy aimed at helping local stores operate more efficiently and successfully compete with large market players.

SIA "LaTS" was founded in 2007 with the aim of uniting small and medium-sized Latvian food retailers, reducing costs, and increasing competitiveness. Currently, the network includes about 270 companies and has more than 700 physical retail outlets across Latvia.
