International Women's Day on March 8 remains a holiday in Latvia that people celebrate with joy, also perceiving it as a symbolic beginning of spring, notes Latvijas Tirgotāju savienība (LaTS).
“At this time, there is a special atmosphere in stores — people want to please the women close to them with flowers, sweets, or small gifts. This is often the first moment of celebrating spring after a long winter,” explains Commercial Director Vitaly Roshchin.
In anticipation of March 8, the LaTS retail chain stores across Latvia offer customers special holiday promotions. From February 24 to March 16, stores have discounts on various everyday and holiday items, allowing customers to prepare for the holiday at more favorable prices. The offerings include sweets, snacks, and household goods, the demand for which traditionally increases at this time, Roshchin said.
Among the promotional items are popular products such as Schogetten chocolate, Estrella nuts, Milka sweets, as well as Apetito sauces and Barilla pasta. This assortment allows customers to purchase both small gifts and products for the festive table in one place.
In addition to the regular assortment, many LaTS stores offer products that are usually less widely available during the holiday period. Customers can purchase both cut flowers and potted plants — traditionally one of the most popular gifts on this day. There is also an increased demand for sweets, especially boxed chocolates, as well as fresh fruits, such as strawberries.
During the holiday season, customers often choose sparkling wines and desserts as well. Various cakes that are suitable for both family celebrations and small festive gatherings are popular.
“We strive to make holiday shopping as easy as possible, so that a person can find everything they need in one place — from flowers to sweets or drinks,” notes Roshchin. According to him, the advantage of neighborhood stores is the ability to quickly buy a gift or holiday product without the need to go to a large supermarket.
This year, a special offer has also been prepared in the online store E-latts.lv. This solution allows those who prefer to shop online or want to order a gift with delivery to celebrate the holiday as well.
“We also think about how to make life easier for men, who often look for gifts at the last minute. Therefore, we try to ensure that each LaTS store has various holiday options — even in a small neighborhood store,” adds Roshchin.
The retail chain notes that during this period, customer activity increases not only in large cities but also in the regions. For many, March 8 is an opportunity not only to please the women in their family or at work but also to symbolically welcome spring. Therefore, holiday offers in stores are designed to create a festive atmosphere and help customers easily find a suitable gift or treat.
