The Largest Bank in the U.S. Crawls Before Offended Trump

The largest American investment bank JPMorgan is negotiating to provide banking services to the World Council of U.S. President Donald Trump, reports the Financial Times (FT) citing sources familiar with the negotiations.

According to two sources familiar with the situation, the bank discussed providing services such as facilitating payments to the board of directors and on its behalf.

Relations between the bank and the U.S. administration are complicated by a lawsuit that Trump filed last month against the company and its CEO Jamie Dimon, FT reminds. The U.S. President stated that the bank closed his bank accounts for political reasons on the eve of the elections.

However, Dimon has pursued policies that align with Trump's agenda, including a goal of financing the industry at $1.5 trillion, which is critically important for the national security and infrastructure of the country, the newspaper explains.

On February 19, the first meeting of the international organization took place. At the first meeting, Trump reported that countries contributed $7 billion to the Gaza Reconstruction Fund after the disarmament of Hamas, but the World Council is still far from achieving its goal, Reuters reports.

The World Council will oversee the transitional Palestinian committee managing the Gaza Strip, the White House reported. The organization will also manage the financing of Gaza's reconstruction until the Palestinian administration completes its reform program, the White House clarified.
