Last year, Latvia exported goods to 201 countries around the world, while importing products from 167 countries, reported the Central Statistical Bureau.
The ministry notes that in 2025, the value of Latvian goods exports amounted to 19.54 billion euros — an increase of 698.1 million euros, or 3.7%, compared to 2024. Imports reached 23.19 billion euros, rising by 1.5 billion euros, or 6.9%. Thus, the total foreign trade turnover of Latvia in current prices was 42.73 billion euros — an increase of 2.2 billion euros, or 5.4%, compared to the previous year.
Export growth was observed in commodity groups such as mineral products (+353.5 million euros; +24.7%), live animals and animal products (+212.3 million euros; +22.4%), as well as machinery, mechanical devices, and electrical equipment (+135.6 million euros; +4.7%). A decrease was recorded in the groups "plant products" (–66.4 million euros; –5.1%) and "wood and products made of it, charcoal" (–38.1 million euros; –1.3%).
Key export goods in 2025 included wood and products made of it (15.3% of total export volume), electrical devices and equipment (10.2%), as well as mineral fuels, oil, and products of its processing (8.5%).
Wood and products made of it were mainly exported to the United Kingdom (24.8%), Sweden (9.3%), and Lithuania (7%). Electrical equipment was predominantly supplied to Lithuania (25.2%), Estonia (11.1%), and France (8%). Mineral fuels and oil products were most often exported to Lithuania (17.4%), Nigeria (15.9%), and Estonia (9.6%).
In 2025, the largest trading partners of Latvia for exports were Lithuania, Estonia, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Sweden — accounting for 47.4% of the total export value. Agricultural and food products were mainly supplied to Lithuania, Estonia, and Germany, while wood and products made of it were sent to the United Kingdom and Sweden.
Of the total export volume, 69.9% (13.662 billion euros) went to European Union countries, including 53.4% (10.433 billion euros) to eurozone countries. Exports to CIS countries amounted to 1.399 billion euros (7.2%), while to other countries — 4.476 billion euros (22.9%).
In 2025, goods of Latvian origin accounted for 47.7% of total exports to EU countries. The largest amount of products of Latvian origin was supplied to Lithuania (1.037 billion euros), Germany (843.6 million euros), and Sweden (810.5 million euros).
