Latvian monetary financial institutions, mainly banks, earned 341.7 million euros last year, which is 34.5% less than in 2024, according to data from the Bank of Latvia.

The profits of financial institutions in December amounted to 19.4 million euros.

As of December 31, the assets of monetary financial institutions totaled 31.687 billion euros, which is 5.9% or 1.774 billion euros more than at the end of December 2024 (29.913 billion euros).

The outstanding loans issued to residents of Latvia at the end of December amounted to 15.817 billion euros, which is 13.1% more than a year earlier. Monetary financial institutions issued loans in euros to residents amounting to 15.752 billion euros (+13.4% compared to a year earlier), while the outstanding loans in foreign currency amounted to 64.8 million euros (-28.5%).

The outstanding deposits of residents at the end of December amounted to 21.319 billion euros, which is 8.2% more than in December of last year, including deposits in euros amounting to 20.102 billion euros and in foreign currency - 1.216 billion euros. Compared to the end of 2024, the volume of deposits in euros increased by 9%, while in foreign currency it decreased by 3.9%.

The capital and reserves of Latvian monetary financial institutions at the end of December amounted to 3.558 billion euros, which is 3.2% less than a year earlier.

In 2024, the profits of monetary financial institutions amounted to 521.5 million euros, including 486.2 million euros for 11 months.
